The Year that was: The Ugly and the Beauty of 2020

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

Developing story...

TUMULTUOUS 2020

The year 2020 was a challenging year for all of us and for the entire world. This is a year of discovering and realizing the importance of life and our life choices. This was also a year where we have rediscovered ourselves and make a re-evaluation of our life choices and checking our sanity with the help of those we have trusted.

My Personal Reflections and the Silverlining

On a brighter note, I still believe that most of us have been so eager to give a piece of our heart to those who are needy. Deep down inside of us, we have evaluated our selves, our ego, our leaders, our support system, and our environment. I personally weigh in the kind of leaders within my circle and realized their nature based on personal judgment and level of sympathy. This was also the time where our leaders step up and have shown us who are capable to lead (and of course those who are inept in their roles). This was also the time where we segmented the company or institutions that have taken care of their employees and still working to alleviate the impact of the pandemic.

These are pictures of my students/former students and a colleague who has STEP-UP during the first quarter of the pandemic.

As we have waved goodbye to 2020, there many reasons to be thankful and be grateful rather than regrets. One of the best realization during this pandemic is to appreciate more of what you have rather than wanting more of what you do not have. We became more compassionate and empathetic to our surroundings. We became more appreciative of any initiative to help and to be a blessing to others. It was also highlighted any small act of kindness is considered a big thing because it comes from the heart. I think you will agree with me that happiness has no price tags. You cannot buy happiness. Take time to be happy, to love more, to forgive more even if it is hard. Peace of mind is priceless, there are many things that money cannot buy. Health is truly wealth.

Our family and chosen family will be the best company during your lowest low.

I always thank our God Almighty for giving me the best, kind-hearted, and beautiful people. These situations have made us closer to our Almighty God, closer to our loved ones, closer to our trusted friends, and allow us to show a more forgiving heart. I think most of us learn to be more compassionate and more understanding. We discover more of ourselves last year too. Even though tears have fallen tremendously, life will never stop just because you stop, therefore, take time to rest and regain your strength, then fight again.

Regardless of what happened, last year still an awesome year because we were able to see the silver lining in every dark cloud.

Let us appreciate LIFE MORE.

2021 is another story to tell, another journey to walk through, and another experience to treasure. Let us be hopeful that 2021 is better than last year and be confident that we will become a better person, a better version of ourselves than the previous year.

Happy New Year

Welcome 2021
